MOHLATSI VERPAKKING
(Edms) Bpk
In 2013 Mohlatsi Farm undertook to build our own packhouse. Mohlatsi Verpakking was brought into the Mohlatsi Group as an extension of our aim to provide our customers with superior quality mangoes and subtropical crops. The 3000m² facility has largely focussed on packing mangoes, but the growth in our citrus and avocado plantings will allow us to start packing fruit all year round.
The packhouse ensure that we select, pack and ship only the best quality fruit from our orchards to our markets. Packing kicks off at the end of November and lasts until end of March. During the season up 550 000 4Kg mango cartons are packed.

The Farm is Global GAP accredited and also received Farming for the Future accreditation from Woolworths. The packhouse is Global GAP accredited and our drying facility HACCP accredited.

GOING GREEN
Our continuous development of cleaner and greener processes forms an integral part of our commitment towards leaving a lasting contribution for generations to come. Our initiatives include:
Solar:
The packhouse and drying facility have been equipped with a solar plant that will reduce our carbon footprint. The energy generation per hour will be in excess of 150KW/hour.
Saving water:
Mohlatsi Farm has an on-going programme of eradicating invasive alien vegetation such as Bug weed, Thorn Apple (Datura), Lantana and unwanted beefwood (Casuarina cunninghamena). Mohlatsi Farm also commits itself towards continuous soil moisture measurements and using precise water scheduling to minimize water losses.

Preserving our natural fauna and flora:
With more than 100 hectares of mountain and riverine areas, we are committed to preserving the natural vegetation by fencing, maintaining fire breaks, preventing any unauthorised hunting and fishing and aims in eliminating poaching. The farm also has a policy that only allows for use of invasive alien plant species and mango wood or beefwood for making fire for the purpose of cooking.
Integrated pest management:
Integrated pest management is a fundamental part of Mohlatsi Farm’s environmentally sound approach towards the management of pests and diseases. The aim is to farm in a manner that is closer in harmony with nature and producing fruit with lower or zero chemical residues.
